Graphire Pen Mouse & Tablet

Going For A Used Graphire Pen, Mouse & Tablet

You don't always need the top of the line to get things done, especially on a limited budget. If I had to, I could still use my old Wacom Graphire tablet even if I hadn't replaced it with a neweer model. It still works great, even if it could use a bit of a cleaning. The Graphire is about equivalent in functionality to an Adesso Cybertablet in both pros and cons. The Graphire, being an older model, might have driver compatibility issues with your system in the same way that an Adesso would. One benefit of getting a Graphire though is that some come in wireless bluetooth versions. You can buy these tablets today used for around $75 if you don't get the bluetooth version, which is a pretty good deal for the features available, especially considering how much you'd pay for the comparable Adesso model.

So what features does the Wacom Graphire tablet have? It comes with a pen stylus and mouse, neither of which need batteries and both of which have two buttons for added functionality, including stylus web surfing and free-flowing cyber writing. The tablet is also covered with a semi transparent plastic sheet that you can slip a drawing underneath to trace. The 512 pressure sensitivity levels are plenty for most user's needs, and my 6" x 8" wireless bluetooth version has a 2048 lpi resolution. I do like that the newer models are quite thin compared to the wired versions, and are comparable in height to the Aiptek Slim Tablet.

Wacom has replaced the Graphire somewhat with its diverging Intuous and Bamboo lines. These models run at a higher price tag than their predecessor however, so if the Wacom brand name is important to you then the Graphire might be your best bet on a tight budget. If I were to have gotten mine today, I would have given it a once over with an anti-bacterial spray of some sort as the surface seems to be prone to gunk sticking to it. Overall I'd say it's a pretty great economical pen, mouse & tablet combination.
